Volcanos

 In the United States any natural disaster can happen…like volcanos. The states in the united states that have the most active volcanos are; Alaska, Hawaii, and the Pacific Northwest. Other states like Washington, Wyoming, California and Oregon also have volcanos but aren’t as active as the other states. Washington has two volcanos; mount st. Helene’s and mount rainier. Wyoming has Yellowstone. Oregon has mount hood. There’s are currently 169 active volcanos in the United States. The USGS has various ways to inform and manage volcanos. The two part system alerts communications about a volcanos status to the aviation company and to the public. The two part alert systems has 4 different alert levels, depending on the ground based hazards. The system uses color codes for the different types of hazards.

Hello class, my name is Brenda Bautista. The country I've chosen to focus on during the  semester is the United States. Ive chosen the United States because it's our home and I rather know about my home and understand it a lot better than any other country. Choosing my home country was easy because it's more interesting knowing what happens in my own country where as somewhere else.  After veiwng the powerpoint slides and understanding them, ive gotten a better understanding on what's the difference between a hazards, disasters vs catastrophes. Plate Boundaries

The United States has several tectonic plate boundaries going though the states which is why we experience earthquakes and some volcanic activity. The united states fall more under the north American plate which has two plate boundaries, transform boundary and convergent boundary. Both plates are the most active plate boundaries that are on the west coast of the United States. The East coast also has a plate but it's not as active as the west coast.  The United States has a "ring of fire" which is closer to home. The San Andreas Fault is the sole responsibile for the earthquakes we have here in California.
